We are ticked pink to have a project nominated for both the Sydney and Melbourne Design Awards this year. Our Porter Davis project (above) is the contender for the Melbourne Design Awards which will be announced July 27 and Airbnb (below) has just been nominated for the Sydney awards, to be announced in September.
These awards allow the public to vote and every vote counts, so we would love it if you could take a moment to rate the projects out of 5. You can rate Airbnb here and Porter Davis here. Thank you for your support and fingers crossed!
Grab the latest issue of Furnishing International to see a great feature on our Porter Davis project (and look who made the cover!).
Herman Miller is a bit of an iconic figure when it comes to workplace design, so we couldn’t be happier that our project for Y&R has been announced as a shortlisted winner in their Liveable Office Awards. Check out our entry and read more about it here.
Bingo and Otto are making a name for themselves all over town… Check out this recent piece published in Issimo Magazine on our recent PetSure project (featured also in the post below). Woof!
It’s not often that a workplace brief requires cat enclosures and pet lounge areas, but our recent project for pet insurance company PetSure required exactly that and more. We had great fun creating kennel inspired meeting spaces and oversized environmental pet graphics within a collaborative and open working space across 2 levels. Check out all the pics on the PetSure project page (keeping an eye out for starring roles from pets Bingo & Tess).
Our project for Cromwell Property Group features in an article by the Urban Developer about how co-working spaces are on the rise. Here’s a little extract;
“Cromwell Director of Leasing Bobby Binning said the company recognised the need for flexibility in workplace accommodation.
“Not everyone wants to pay for extra space that they may only use once a month, but to know you can have free access to additional meeting rooms when you need it – our customers see value in that,” he said.
The contemporary mezzanine level space was designed by Sydney-based interior designers The Bold Collective and responds to the growing entrepreneurial Brisbane environment.”
The Cromwell Mezzanine co-working space has been such a success it has now been taken over by a third party as a commercial enterprise. Read the full article here.
Our project for Airbnb Sydney has just been announced as a finalist in the 2016 Dulux Colour Awards, chosen from a record number of entries. Winners will be announced on the 28th April, so fingers crossed! (You can view the competition here…)
Our project for Airbnb is getting a lot of attention world-wide. The project not only enhances Airbnb workplace culture, but also inspires employees to move around the space to work and experience it just like you might one of their listings. Here’s what they’re saying;
“Move over Google and Facebook, there’s a new contender for Australia’s coolest office.” UK’s Daily Mail
“From the wilds of a Swedish archipelago to the quirky flair of a Cuban casa, the staff at Airbnb can travel the world in just a few metres thanks to the unique design of their new Sydney HQ.” news.com.au
One of the great delights of the brief was to create themed rooms based on real Airbnb listings chosen by staff in Kangaroo Valley, Havana and Sweden after seeking permission from the respective hosts. We identified the key materials and elements that would help recreate these quirky and character filled rooms and bring them to life, enhancing the informal and inviting tone of the workplace. Whilst the project celebrates global travel, a local focus on Sydney and Australia is also communicated.
“The company kitchen is modelled on the Coogee Pavilion and the foyer features a stretch of astroturf that is a tribute to an AFL oval and even the toilets have not been forgotten with Mardi Gras themed changing rooms.” news.com.au
Airbnb have just been voted the best tech company to work by US career website Glasshouse, ahead of the big guys like Facebook, Google and Linked in. So as the critics are touting, it could just be the world’s coolest office…
